I keep downgrading my review of this app. I would advise against purchasing this program simply because the software does not work properly. I have spent the last 30 minutes trying to progress through a single activity and the voice recognition keeps stalling and wont allowing me to progress. My internet connection is completely fine. This has been a constant frustration the whole time Ive been using this app - and it isnt any better on my computer. Unfortunately, I cannot change my initial favourable review on the Rocket Languages website, which I wrote after completing my free trial and getting a $10 discount to submit. So beware the favourable reviews you see online for this program. There are other glitches with the app, which make it frustrating to use and lead to a lot of wasted time. It misses activity points and you have to restart the app to complete a section. The playback in some of the testing sections gets cut off. Also, the presentation of some of the audio lessons is really weird. Sometimes the instructor is antagonistic to the listener and lesson 3.2 is blantanly sexist. Be careful with the trial lessons, because theyve clearly put their effort into perfecting those ones.

Its awesome! I have found the best way to learn French. I learn new words very strong, the application shows news words again and again while going on. Also the program allows practicing active skills like speaking and writing. I pronounce each phrase up to 30-50 times. Its very effective for me. Thank you for great program!

I absolutely love Rocket Japanese as a learning Program. It works great on my browser and Ive learned a lot. However the app is not what I expected from them. The app does not sync the progress Ive made (from the browser to the app or visa-versa) I cant use the app without internet (something that would be useful) and it doesnt work nearly as well as the browser does. Thankful I purchased it for use on the browser and was only hoping that I could use the app when I leave the house. I hope they can fix it and make it better!

Virtually no volume on new version

I just purchased level one and it looks like I will be asking for a refund. So far I have sent two emails and left one voicemail and the company still has not responded. Neither of my Bluetooth speakers will work consistently with the software and worse than that is the fact that the volume through my phone goes down to a whisper after a few minutes! Fix it or refund my money!!

So far so good I really like this app its helping me to master the Chinese and the French language

I like the program but the app is horrible. Cant hear on the test and cant record your voice. Once you tap the microphone there is no way to turn it off except to exit the app.

The sound is low and the mic doesnt work either for the mandarin language courses.

Since the latest update the all is vastly better than it was. It has most if not all of the learning tools that the website version has. However there is a volume bug that makes the play back of words very quiet no matter what the volume is set to on the phone.

Audio playback is still broken. Hard to believe this made it through QA (they do have QA, right?) The interface is also very sluggish. It is obviously not a native app, which I am not necessarily opposed to as they can be done well, but this is not.

Update 7/12/2016: NO! NO! NO! IT IS NOT FIXED!!!

You have to delete this app at least once a week and then re-download because the sound starts to come through as a whisper. Major downfall for such a good program. Please fix asap!!

I use Rocket languages on desktop and it works decently well. The mobile app however on my iPhone 6 doesnt even record my voice properly! Its choppy and never records my voice in one cohesive clip resulting in poor recognition and poor scores. Im learning Mandarin so practicing speaking is critical and this app prevents me from doing that. Please fix the mic issue ASAP!

Whats going on with the icon for the app? It hasnt looked right in months. Looks like an icon that might be used for the mine craft game or something.

First problem is that the app requires constant connectivity. Course content cannot be downloaded for offline study. Second is that the record feature routinely "hiccups", mangling your perfectly spoken words. I often have to repeat words several times before they are recognized correctly. In the upside, the course content (lessons, dialogs) seem to be very good.

Should be obvious, right? Not though.

Rocket German is a very good and valuable course. I dont regret buying all 3 levels. However, I share the frustration others have expressed concerning the iOS app. Nothing drains your enthusiasm for learning like an app that crashes several times per session, forcing you to focus on the app, rather than on the lessons. Problems seem to happen most frequently when recording, which is a key aspect of the course. I hope the company focuses on fixing crashes.

The app is a broken disaster that barely functions when its not busy showing random errors and warnings from HTML pages, which is a shame since Rocket seems like it has all the essentials needed to be good for language learning. Theyve put a lot of work into making the lessons. Its a shame its all stuck inside an app that works like something a college student cranked out the night before their CS project was due.

Great program when using a full computer. Works perfectly and is very effective. The mobile app unfortunately has a lot of problems... voice recognition usually cuts off my sentences halfway through or freezes up and I will need to restart the program. As of now, I pretty much just use the mobile app for playing the audio files (which it does just fine) and have to take the tests and do the voice recognition stuff on a computer. Very annoying!

Well, the content of the course is very good and informative. However, my learning experience has been seriously spoiled by the terrible programming issues. The app on my iPhone seems a bit better than the one on my iPad. But still, I have experienced several sudden crashes or abnormal performance of the programme. Worse still, the voice recognition, which supposed to be a valuable and important part of this course, is terrible. The recording could run for ever or had no idea what you talk about. Anyway, the company needs to fix these bugs. I am so surprised that they still exist after this long while!
